A recent event that shook the student community is the suicide of an NTU student after he stabbed his lecturer.
What are your thoughts? Has it affected you? How do feel after the incident and do you think it has made you rethink the way you feel towards life, studies and expectations?

I was shocked about the news, but it does spells a need that some student would need to understand how to manage stress, although not necessary in full blast of venting your anger (but some pple might chose this way) , but picking ways to overcome emotional stress is very essential, as it post hidden danger for those who only seem to react in a gentle way, or worst chose not to relieve it....
Everyone wanna achieve something in life..no doubts...however it is best to put yourself in a more relistics shoe of where you can move..don't not over estimated yourself, but rather compromise yourself..learn to love yourself more through other stuff...study, occupies merely a small portion of our life..it does not always make everyone happy even you arm with a good degree...think about it...

Alison, I totally agree with you on that! Studies and GPAs at this point (for students) may seem like everything in the WORLD! But it is not.. there is simply too much to live for. Studies should only be a part of life and not ALL to life.
I know people who had studied so hard everyday.. but they missed out all that is important and when they have time to appreciate them.. those things are gone forever. Didn't we study in the first place with the hope of a good career, early retirement and finally to enjoy and appreciate life? Why not do it now?
Education (school etc..) was afterall, an invention of mankind, same goes for marriages, National Service and Valentines' day... (haha) . Our ancestors led a healthy life during the stones ages and I bet they might have been a happy bunch of ppl too =)

i think excelling in studies is becoming an increasingly stressful issue esp when u see toddlers being enrolled in pre-schools, nurseries, day/child care centres & groomed to pick up studying at such a young age. previously kindergartens was good enough, now ppl want a much earlier headstart for their kids. see the recent uproar on difficulty level of PSLE maths.. tsk tsk..
it's not a wonder that life becomes increasingly stressful as we grow up that we somehow cant afford to slow down a little..

Yeah, I pity the family of the deceased NTU student.. up till now, I think they still havn't gotten closure on the issue.. Perhaps they are regretting sending him to study so hard when he did not even get to live long enough to make the most of the knowledge he gathered..
Rest in Peace ya..
